Artisan Fretted Instruments By Ivon Schmukler

Artisan Fretted Instruments guitars are the synthesis of my experience, beginning in 1965, in building, restoring and repairing guitars and other American fretted instruments.  Over the years, I have been fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to learn from my fellow luthiers and study the instruments made by the great American and European makers.

My instruments have evolved over the years to become lighter, stronger, and acoustically efficient.  I use very carefully selected materials, especially in the top and bracing structure, and pay close attention to action geometry to provide players with instruments that are easy to play, rich in tone and volume.  A broad overtone series gives the instruments remarkable sustain and a sound usually associated with those which have been played for many years.
